here is 6 month old “raisin” being carried in by my coworker. the state of massachusetts is very strict about transporting animals. they must go under a quarantine and then get health certificates in order to be released. we also can not allow the animals to touch the ground where our local dogs walk. certain diseases can live in the ground for a long time, so we have to carry them to a quarantine designated play pen for potty breaks.
in other states, like new york, you can transport animals up and adopt them on the same day. personally, i think this isn’t really a good idea especially if you do not use a trusted source. i have heard many heartbreaking stories of people adopted dogs that had a major illness like parvo and the dog was dead in a month. talk about gut-wrenching.
love me some raisin. squeee.
